I think I'm worried TOO MUCH!!!

My son's old Nissan is still OK now and still has minimal repairing so far. If his Nissan cannot last for 25 years, he still can pay some money and change his old luxury Nissan to a 6-8 year old used Corolla/Civic or something even smaller like Yaris/Fit. And drive those cheap cars for just 1-2 years... The most important thing is.... Only buy a N.A. car, no turbos even though the car is a Toyota!!!

I think any poor young student should really appreciate those Japanese car makers. Without them, their lifes could become miserable!!!!

PS: My son also told me that once he got a Ph.D degree, his salary could become around 150KUSD a year!!! (Not poor any more!!!)

Beside my son, my daughter also plans to study her PhD degree in the future... (The job market in USA is very competitive. If the economy is down, the situation could become like the end of the world!!!)

My daughter will start her Master degree next fall... However, my daughter's car is 2010 M35X which is 2.5 year and 100K km newer than my son's 2007 G35S. In addition, G35S was my previous car. I also abused that Nissan a bit more. So, I think my daughter's Nissan should last until she gets her PhD degree... (Knock on wood)

PS: In US, the most popular bad messages I heard from my friends were layoffs but in Taiwan those messages became car accidents!!!

In the past my wife asked me why my daughter's old Nissan kept making some low grunt sounds when the car cruised on the highway???

I told my wife that that's the engine exhaust sound. (In fact the exhaust sound of M35X is a bit louder than G35S's)

Guess what? This morning I also suddenly found my 2017 GSF made the same sound... (I think my newer Lexus is also quieter)

Believe it or not... The sound also became LOUDER, after two days ago I had changed the engine oil for my GSF!!!

So, that is THE SOUND OF THE POWER!!!

I always followed the factory SOP and did coolant replacements by myself for our Nissans and GSF.

Yesterday I used the below coolant air bleed kit on my son's G35S to see whether the SOPs from Nissan were really correct or not???

Guess what... There was completely NO BUBBLE in the coolant system of my son's G35S. So, I confirm that the SOPs in Nissan factory manuals are very accurate and NO JOKE!!!

PS: Actually the SOPs for bleeding air in the coolant system from Nissan/Toyota are similar and not difficult. They are just a little more time-consuming.(2-3 heat cycles) However, the below kit is quicker...

Yesterday my son finally fixed the P0128 problem for his G35S...

The part cost was 45USD and the labor charge was 180USD.

He also took one day off. He also told me that NO ONE will like fixing a car!!!

PS: The Bose sound system in my son's G35S is still out of function but he says he can live with it!!! (Sometimes I think my son feels like a MONK!!!)

My son says the new thermostat DOES make a difference on his old Nissan...

Before the coolant temperature took about 6 minutes to reach the normal working temperature. Now it becomes 4 minutes!!!

Now a new question is... Why do my 2017 GSF and my daughter's 2010 M35X both need to take 6 minutes???

The labor charge for only replacing a thermostat in my son's old Nissan was 180USD!!! (This is still the cheapest!!! Another quote from a popular Chinese repair shop was 250USD!!! )

If it's in Taiwan, the charge would become 45USD or even less!!!

Some people may complain the car prices in Taiwan are very high but the the other costs in USA are MUCH higher!!!

Currently my son's insurance is 1200USD per year for an almost 16 year old car!!! (That's why he loves driving an old car)

PS: Currently in our area the rent for 3 bed room apartment is 3,000USD per month!!! The property tax for 3 bed room apartment is 10,000USD per year!!! (Again, maybe the initial house purchase prices are lower in USA but the other housing costs are MUCH higher!!!)

One more thing...

Believe it or not... My daughter's current car insurance for her 12 year old Nissan is 2400USD per year as she thinks she is a new driver and would like to have a good coverage on any unexpected!!!(She may try to lower the amount next year!!!)

PS: Currently the tuition and living costs for a public college student in California is 25,000-35,000USD yearly!!! For a private college the amount would be increased to around 50,000USD yearly!!!

It looks like the problematic Bose amp from my son's old Nissan was made in Mexico!!!

OMG!!! Although the living cost in USA is much higher than in Taiwan, the 2022 tax deductible in Taiwan is higher surprisingly!!! (13.6K vs 13K USD)

After deductible, the tax bucket rate(federal+state) for a typical middle class family in USA is 26%-30%!!!

PS: In Taiwan "22K" is no tax but in USA the tax bucket rate of the similar or even lower income is 11-14%!!! (In USA, even though you don't have enough money to live, you still have to PAY TAX!!! And, the tax rate is about the same or slightly higher than that for a typical middle class family in Taiwan!!!)
