In my opinion that thermostat is still OK. It's just like a leaky faucet and not in a PERFECT condition as the car still warm up as quick as before and the MPG doesn't drop. However, emission regulation is very strict, no matter your car is new or old!!!
Now we have to find a repair shop... Guess what... Now my son has to work during weekdays and there is not many repair shops opened in the weekend!!! (If I'm 10 years younger, I think I will fix it by myself!!!)
PS: Maybe a leaky faucet is not a good example as a leaky faucet could leak 24 hour a day, 7 day a week but the thermostat in my son's Nissan only becomes leaky within the first 6 minutes since the engine starts...

PS: I think my GSF is still good although the tailpipes from my GSF are much darker than those from my son's old Nissan. (If I criticize my GSF, there will be no car I could buy in the future as there is no car being more reliable than Lexus/Toyota!!!)

The car is still totally fine... (Not perfect but still fine)
Do all the very old cars on the road still run perfectly??? I doubt it!!!
PS: I also checked my GSF many times... It also needed the same time(about 6 minutes) to let its coolant reach normal temperature from a cold start...

He also told me his colleague still baby his Audi and would warm up his Audi in the parking lot for at least 1-2 minutes. My son usually don't warm up his old Nissan. He just starts the engine and goes right away!!! (That's why he love his old Nissan so much as he doesn't need to warmup, wash, baby, pay high insurance fee, etc. for it!!!)

The Bose sound system is a pleasure to listen but it may not be that good when it gets old!!!
Actually the Bose system in my previous car 2000 Maxima GLE in Taiwan also had a problem when it was about 8 years old. However, I was lucky. I was able to find the problem and fix it by myself without any costs. (I just re-solder a contact point in a China-made PCB board)
This time for my son's G sedan I don't think I could be that lucky again...
PS: 2000 Maxima was built in Japan but in the car there were still some components made in China.

PS: Please be noted the owner of this broken Toyota was in the US and he/she drove his Toyota for 130kms daily. In Taiwan, the running condition would be worse(I lived in Taiwan before). So, the situation will be even worse especially for those TURBO engines!!!

His GPA in his university was excellent (3.97/4.00) and his GPA also was ranked in the top 4% in his university.
However, the bad news is... He has to drive his old Nissan for another 6-7 years!!! I don't think his old Nissan can last for that long. His old Nissan was 3 year old used car in 2010. My original plan was to sell it in 2017 and buy a more economic car like Corolla or Civic for my son. (Why I didn't sell it as its condition was so good that it's not wise to sell it in 2017!!!)

If their cars can last 10 years, why don't they last for 20 years???
If their cars can last 20 years, why don't they last for 30 years???
So the happy hour is over now...
From now on I think my son has to fix his old Nissan and the repairing cost of these old luxury cars could be a bit more expensive in the future!!! (so far the repairing cost is still minimal... Knock on wood!!!)
