On April 12th, 149.8 kilometers will be raced.
This stage has seven mountain passes and two sprints :
1. Morga Gaina of 3rd category at Km 17.2 : Length of 4.1 Km – Average slope of 5.7 % - Drop of 231 m
2. Natxitua of 3rd category at Km 53.3 : Length of 2.5 Km – Average slope of 3.2 % - Drop of 76 m
3. Bedarona of 3rd category at Km 58.1 : Length of 2.1 Km – Average slope of 7.4 % - Drop of 148 m
4. Arribinieta of 3rd category at Km 86.8 : Length of 2.8 Km – Average slope of 7.4 % - Drop of 208 m
- Sprint in Elgoibar at Km 99.8
5. Izua Gaina of 1st category at Km 110.2 : Length of 3 Km – Average slope of 12.7 % - Drop of 389 m
- Sprint in Markina at Km 121.4
6. Trabakua of 3rd category at Km 130.5 : Length of 6 Km – Average slope of 4.4 % - Drop of 266 m
7. Usartza Gaina of 1s category at Km 147.6 : Length of 5 Km – Average slope of 8.8 % - Drop of 429 m

● Vuelta al Pais Vasco 2019 – Stage 5 Preview - Time for the GC battle to really begin. (2019.04.11 / ciclismointernacional)
--- This stage has everything required to deliver sensational racing and it will begin with the climb of Izua, coming after 100km of racing.
3.3km at 12%, but with a maximum of 32.5%. This is an incredibly steep climb, but by moving it 40 km from the end of the stage, I wonder what racing we’ll actually see on it.
Going solo from this point isn’t advisable, but if a small group manage to distance the peloton, they could stay away until the end. This provides teams with an interesting dilemma.

--- The stage ends with the classic climb, 6.8km at 6%, but this does include almost 2km of flat/descending towards the finishing line.
The main section of the climb is 3.7km at 9.6%, which is certainly tough enough to see some gaps.
History shows us that this climb doesn’t usually see large gaps between the GC riders, but this could change due to the steep climb earlier in the day. By this point, the riders will already be tired, and we could see larger gaps than normal.

The wind isn’t very strong, but it is coming from the north, meaning a headwind on the big climbs.

就這一點而言， Astana 最積極也最夠力，
成功將 Maximilian Schachmann (BORA - hansgrohe) 拉下馬來，
但是，BORA - hansgrohe 漂亮地適時打出手中另一張王牌 Emanuel Buchmann
( 原本車隊預設的 GC 主將；第四站後 GC 排名第 6 / + 1 分 10 秒 )。
Buchmann 在倒數第二個坡 (Trabakua / 3 級坡) 的半途上，以強有力的攻擊，
拋下三人領先小組的其他二人，並逐漸拉開差距，
一路堅持過最後的一級坡 Usartza。
最終，以領先第 2 名 Ion Izagirre (Astana Pro Team) 1 分 08 秒的差距單飛奪勝。
同時，也從隊友 Schachmann 手中接下領騎黃衫，讓 Astana 措手不及，只能徒呼負負。
不過， Astana 諸將也不必灰心， Ion Izagirre 站上了 GC 成績排行榜的第 2 名 (+ 54 秒) ，
而隊友 Jakob Fuglsang 也前進到第 5 名 (+ 1 分 32 秒) ，
下一站 (最終站 / 高山站) 仍舊有很大的操作空間可以翻盤。
