I have this information which might interest some...taken from the Esperanto Sony web site on a page that was taken down after 300 milliseconds on the night of 31 June.
"Following on the extraordinary success of the A300/A350 model variants Sony Corporation (Advanced Photographic Group) will be releasing the new full frame (35.8mm x 23.9mm) digital SLR camera in a range of four bodies and three sensors (a total of 12 model/variants). The bodies will be the "basic" (lower cost with more plastic), the "standard" (as exhibited previously), the "field" (compact but with full metal construction) and the "studio" (with additional features such as micrometer radar focusing and HDR live view). All models except the basic can be ordered with standard or extreme weatherproofing. Three sensors will be available with 24MP, 16MP and 8MP providing the discerning photographer with a trade off choice in respect of low light noise and frames per second continuous shooting." caveat lector
The 'Digital Teleconverter' is a gimmick that uses the center portion of the sensor to yield a 7.7MP or 3.5MP crop that simulates a 1.4x or 2.0x teleconverter.
