Your post is very interesting and well thought off, thank you so much.
I like you, have gone through two version of GR.
My first was the special edition of GR in green and wood handle. I sold it and change to X100s, and then sold it and bought LX100, and now, I am back to GR except I bought the special special edition with black body and bamboo wood handle. It is available in very limited number in Taiwan.
Why I choose GR - well, the size, the fast turn on. Size is important. You take a X100, people do knows your presence even it is a small camera. One thing I did not like when I first use GR was lack of EVF. That is why I choose LX100. It is still good but it simply would not fit into my pocket despite its small size. For this purchase, it is strange I still bought a GV1, even though it is a OVF. Strangely enough, I am getting used to go without the OVF or EVF with GR.
I think there is something with how GR photo looks like. It is not definitely sharp, sharp sharp. But rather quite dramatic. Ricoh has its own way of processing color, quite film like in my opinion. The focusing is not that accurate or fast as well. I think a lot of people choose to use snap mode which is quite interesting. I did not choose GRII but bought a GR limited special edition to convince myself I am unique.
If I may dream or guess or suggest when Ricoh should do for future GR:
1. Reduce the image APSC to 1inch sensor, make the vibration control built in, keep the size and dimension, and improve the focusing speed. I know but I think the 1inch sensor offers the best compromise.
2. Increase slightly the size, add EVF and optical stabilization somewhere. Make this a deal competitor to X100 series. I think it is acceptable for GR to grow the height not the length or the thickness.
I will be the first in line to purchase that NEW GR!
Thanks for reading

I agree your opinion.
I both have GRD4 and GR at the same time. And I used to take GRD4 for every time when I want to travel easily. Because the stabilization system is so important to me. Although GR have APSC CMOS sensor, but without stabilization system.
Maybe the next generation GR will do it. I hope so!!
