the first generation iPod video output video using mini-headphone 3 pin. can only output composite video.
then apply impoove it in later model that you can output video from bottom, and add better video output (S-video)
then apple make new improvement again, you can output componant from bottom. even better video quality (up to 480P)
i think the next improvement will be HDMI output. if that time come, all current cable and duck will NOT be compatible again..
to me, it's just am improvement in technology......
