According to your article, it seems to be Synnex's fault- buying COMPONENTS from Seagate, but selling it to you as a direct purchase product. Therefore, Synnex should be responsible to handle your HDD. They are responsible to inform Seagate that your HDD is sold alone, and then you can deal with it on your own. If Synnex dosen't response your request, you may inform Seagate that Synnex is selling components as stand alone product. Such activity may violate the contract between Seagate and Synnex.
