One is the path that BMW took with the R80 G/S, providing a road bike that had some dirt capability.

The second path took place a few years later when Suzuki introduced the DR125S, the first "Dual Sport" marketed as a street-legal dirt bike - i.e., a dirt bike with headlights, brake lights, and turn signals.

It’s interesting to read these discussions. Somehow it turned into you two hard-nosed bulldogs biting each other’s asses.
Both of you did a lot of researches which include past prints, photos, personal experience and even some anecdotal information.
Since neither of you had gone through the whole evolution of this sport, it’s pointless to be a stickler of what you know.
Remember that the history you read now was only a snapshot of something in the past. Sometimes we should just lighten up and don’t take it too seriously. After all, this is just entertainment, isn’t it?
Thanks to early pioneers, manufacturers invested money and time making these wonder machines so we have a lot to choose from. Let’s just get on the saddle and ride.

好文章..最近在騎 BMW F650 CS,也算是小鳥的分支..看了對這種車型更有感覺
咱年輕時也騎過幾年DT,一晃眼翩翩少年也已白了頭,即使血液中辛烷值早已不再殘留,看見文章中的老車,不由自主心跳血壓也隨著提升,好車值得一再複習,在此留個註腳,免得一不小心給忘了,也感謝樓主整理與分享!
